MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A local healthcare center is now expanding to Jackson, Tennessee, all thanks to a grant.
Christ Community Health Services was awarded a “new access point” grant worth $650,000 from the Bureau of Primary Health Care. The grant helps community health centers expand needed health care to under-served and rural communities.
Christ Community will operate out of a center currently owned by Faith Health Center.
“Of course, for me, it’s why not Jackson? There’s a huge need there, and we have learned through this process that a number of residents from Madison County have been traveling to Memphis receiving services from one of our locations,” said Shantelle Leatherwood, CEO of Christ Community Health Services.
The new center in Jackson is expected to open by January. This will be Christ Community’s ninth location and first expansion outside of Memphis and Shelby County.
