MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – There has been a dramatic increase in the number of hepatitis A cases in Shelby County and for the state of Tennessee.
The state health department reports 2,257 cases of hepatitis A. That’s an increase of more than 400 in just the past month. During the same time in Shelby County, there were 40 cases, which is a 50% increase.
13 people have died since the outbreak started in 2017. Health departments across the state are offering free vaccinations.
