DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. (localmemphis.com) – This weekend, neighbors will be cleaning up damage from storms that passed through north Mississippi early Saturday morning.
The damage was caused by a possible tornado in the area. The tornado warning was issued about 4:45 a.m. Saturday.
Thousands of people through the area lost power.
Local 24 News crews found houses damaged and trees and power lines down along College Road near Alexander. College Road was closed to Highway 305, where there are also trees down.
The College Crossing area near Bethel Road neighborhood in Olive Branch also saw a lot of damage.
Gas pumps were also blown over on their side at the Cedarview Food Mart on Highway 305.
We are told there is also damage in the Creekside Estates area in Olive Branch, as well as along several parts of Craft Road. We are also told several areas in Lewisburg were damaged by the storms.
Hernando and neighborhoods just south of there also had damage from downed trees and power lines.
Near Nesbit, a neighbor on NextDoor thanked another person who they say drove through the Bridgetown community honking their horn early this morning during the tornado warning.
