SOMERVILLE, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Eleven 18-year-olds are being charged after a disturbance Sunday at the Wilder Youth Development Center in Somerville in Fayette County.
It happened shortly after 5:00 p.m. and order was restored by 9:00 p.m., according to a spokesperson with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. She did not say what the disturbance entailed.
We are told all 109 youth at Wilder are accounted for, and none escaped during the disturbance.
The 11 involved were arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail to face charges.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Tennessee Department of Correction assisted during the disturbance.
The investigation is ongoing.
