FORT BRAGG, N.C. (DOD Release) – The Department of Defense has announced the death of a Tennessee soldier who was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.
41-year-old, Sgt. 1st Class Jeremy W. Griffin, 41, of Greenbrier was killed in action by small arms fire on Monday while engaged in combat operations in Wardak Province.
The incident is under investigation.
Griffin was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Griffin was born in Cristobal, Panama, December 7, 1978.
He enlisted into the U.S. Army on April 6, 2004.
