Final Tennessee U.S. Senate Debate Will Air Only On Local 24 News

Local 24 News is your Local Election Headquarters and it’s a big night in Tennessee for two U.S. Senate candidates. Republican Marsha Blackburn and Democrat Phil Bredesen will face-off in a statewide debate from Knoxville.

You’ll see it only on Local 24 News Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Local 24 Anchors Richard Ransom and Katina Rankin are finalizing the tough questions.

The debate is extremely significant. It’s the final debate between Bredesen and Blackburn in a close, hotly-contested race which could determine which party controls the Senate.

During the only other Senate debate last month in Lebanon, the two candidates sparred on a variety of issues, including the opioid crisis, immigration, and tax cuts.

National political analysts rate this Senate race a toss-up, although Blackburn moved ahead in the two most recent polls.

The close contest brought in millions of dollars in advertisements from outside groups, and both the President and Vice President campaigned for Blackburn in recent weeks.

Bredesen received a big-name endorsement himself Sunday: Tennessee native and music star Taylor Swift, the subject of a new Bredesen ad out this afternoon.

Wednesday’s debate at the University of Tennessee will be held on a closed set without an audience, although some supporters of Blackburn and Bredesen will watch from a live remote location.

Early voting begins October 17th.
