MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Friday, more than 300 ‘901-interns’ volunteered in the Memphis community. The interns are from FedEx, AutoZone, First Tennessee, and International Paper.
They packed 100 snack bags for Le Bonheur patients and families. They sorted more than 500-books for Teach America, assembled 3500 toiletry kits for the USO, and picked up 28-bags of trash at Crosstown.
Interns we talked with say it is important to give back to the community.
“Today I was working with USO packing. We put like bottles and different things, and of course, I helped ship them and pack them with my friends and interns. So today's all about helping people out and getting work experience too,” said AutoZone intern Alexander Johnson, II.
This is the third year the 901-interns teamed up to volunteer.
