MEMPHIS, Tenn (localmemphis.com) - Preparing inmates for life after their sentence can drastically decrease re-incarceration rates.
Ex-felons, because of their criminal records, have a hard time getting a job after they are released.
Not having a high school diploma, or equivalent, can make the job search more difficult.
That changed for 16 Shelby County inmates Friday. They graduated at 201 Poplar in the dining hall.
So far one hundred inmates have earned their GED while at Shelby County Jail.
