3 Adults, 3 Teens Charged With Murder And Robbery In String Of Crimes

Six people have been arrested and charged with murder and robbery after a series of crimes in Memphis.

Memphis Police responded to a shooting just after 1:00 a.m. Friday in 3600 block of Summer Avenue.

A man told police two male suspects pulled into the parking lot in a black Mercedes, attempted to rob him and shot another man who was sitting inside of his truck.

The victim 35-year-old Xavier Shotwell was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police.

Investigators say Shotwell rammed the suspect’s car when they tried to rob him but was shot and killed.

The suspects jumped back into the black Mercedes and fled the scene.

MPD was able to confirm that a white pickup truck with additional suspects accompanied the Mercedes during the robbery attempt.

The car was later found abandoned and burned nearby at Orchi and Highland.

Police also confirmed that the car was stolen in a carjacking from the 1000 block of South Coxs back on Thursday. The white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was used by the suspects to facilitate a robbery.

The suspects were caught during a routine traffic stop just before 2:00 a.m. Friday.

Three adults and three teens were taken into custody following this investigation.

Those six involved in the crime are 23-year-old Demetrius Harris, 21-year-old Carlos Craft, 19-year-old Marcus Brown, 15-year-old Taheim Garrett, 14-year-old Jacobi Wesley, and 13-year-old Mykayle Collins.
