8 of 10 candidates for Memphis Mayor participate in mayoral forum

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A month from now, we may have a new mayor in Memphis, or we may not.

The Memphis general election is October 3rd. Tuesday night, the Memphis Urban League Young Professionals hosted a mayoral forum.

Eight of the ten candidates for mayor addressed the audience. Tami Sawyer, who is considered one of the top contenders, took part, but the other two leaders, current mayor Jim Strickland and former mayor Willie Herenton, did not participate.

Early voting starts September 13th.
