Achievement School District leader leaving to take job with Metro Nashville Public Schools

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) The leader of the Achievement School District has tendered her resignation and accepted a job with another district.

Dr. Sharon Griffin, who until last year was the Chief of Schools for Shelby County Schools, will join Metro Nashville Public Schools July 1 as the district’s Chief of Innovation. She left SCS in April of 2018 to take the position with the ASD.

In 2012, Griffin became the first African American female Regional Superintendent of the Innovation Zone for Shelby County Schools. She was recognized as the Supervisor of the Year for Tennessee’s grand division in 2015.
