MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – High temperatures and humidity levels have prompted the city of Memphis to offer relief for those in the Bluff City who need it.
As of 7pm Thursday, the city has opened its cooling center at the Lewis Senior Center at 1188 N. Parkway. It will remain open continuously until further notice.
According to the city, “cooling centers are places where residents dealing with extreme heat conditions may escape until conditions change. Primary locations for cooling centers are usually malls, shopping centers, libraries, and community centers that are opened during normal business hours.”
If you or someone you know needs a ride to the cooling center, call the Office of Emergency Management at 636-2525.
