Annual Shelby County rabies vaccination drive to be held April 27 & May 11

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – The annual Rabies Vaccination Drive hosted by the Shelby County Health Department (SCHD) Vector Control Program will be held on Saturday, April 27th and Saturday, May 11th, at two convenient locations. 

Shelby County pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs and cats to either location listed below between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on April 27th or May 11th to receive low-cost rabies vaccinations and license tags.

  • Benjamin Hooks Library – 3030 Poplar Avenue
  • Shelby County East Government Complex – 1075 Mullins Station Road in the Building W-1 parking lot.

The cost of the rabies tag varies according to the pet owner’s city of residence and the reproductive status of the pet, but the price includes both the rabies shot and the license tag for the pet’s collar. Below are the costs by municipality:

Fertile: $25.00

  • UNINCORPORATED SHELBY COUNTY

Sterile: $15.00

Fertile: $25.00

  • GERMANTOWN

Sterile: $20.00

Fertile: $25.00

  • BARTLETT

Sterile: $20.00

Fertile: $26.00

All dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier to ensure the safety of both the pet and the public.
