HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. (localmemphis.com) - A shy country boy from Ashland, Mississippi is quickly becoming a singing sensation. You can watch 21-year-old Bailey Eubanks audition for American Idol, on Local 24 this Sunday night at 7:00 p.m.
Local 24's Tish Clark say down with Eubanks at a popular Holly Springs restaurant and karaoke bar, where he got his start on stage.
“I had a love and passion for music,” said Eubanks. “I started singing when I was about 6-years-old.”
Now 21, country singer Bailey Eubanks still has a love and passion for music and it all started with the king.
“I do have a lot of Elvis in me,” he said. “Elvis was my main inspiration.”
Eubanks decided to take a chance on music and go for it last September, when he went to an American Idol open call audition in Mussel Shoals, Alabama.
“Apparently, they thought I was good enough to audition Sunday,” said Eubanks.
“He's where he needs to be right now. We're so proud of Bailey,” said Nancy Boone.
Boone and her husband Johnny own JB's On The Square in Holly Springs, where Eubanks started singing when he was 16.
“Like the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, JB's on the square is the equivalent to that in Holly Springs, Mississippi,” said Eubanks.
JB's caught fire in 2016 but rebuilt a couple of doors down on the square. JB's is considered a landmark, a place where you can find Eubanks almost every Friday night.
“Bailey's just like my own child,” said Boone.
“It really does mean a lot to see all the people that are behind me and pushing me. It does touch my soul and it's very humbling to see that,” said Eubanks.
