At Least Three Women Robbed Outside Cordova Kroger In Less Than 24 Hours

Local News

Memphis Police now say three women were robbed in less than 24-hours outside a local Kroger store in Cordova.

Police say the first robbery happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the parking lot of the store in the 1600 block of N. Germantown Parkway.

Police say the victim was attacked by a suspect, who struck her and took off with her purse. The suspect got away in a black Charger with 2 red stripes and a Tennessee license plate. A description of the suspect was not released.

Wednesday morning around 8:45 a.m., Memphis Police officers were called to the same Kroger store.  A woman told officers when she left the store, she was walking toward her vehicle when she noticed a man sitting in a newer model white 4-door car.

According to MPD, as she started putting her groceries in her vehicle, the suspect approached her with a silver handgun, demanding her purse. The victim gave the suspect her purse and he drove off southbound on Germantown Parkway. A description of the suspect was not released.

A short time later, a white Toyota Avalon was ditched behind a carwash near Jason’s Deli. A source tells Local 24 it was the same vehicle used in the second purse snatching. It’s believed the suspects involved then went to The Reserve at Dexter Lake Apartments and committed another robbery.

Around 1:30p.m. Wednesday, Local 24 saw police back at the Cordova Kroger.

“My mom was robbed,” said one woman who did not want to be identified.

In total, police are investigating four robberies, all of them are believed to be connected.
