A 15-year-old was injured after someone shot at a window of a school bus Monday afternoon in Whitehaven.

According to Memphis Police the bus was carrying students from Fairley High School when a single gunshot pierced one of the windows.

A 15-year-old, whose name has not been released, was injured. It’s unclear if she was injured by the bullet or shattered glass.

“So much has been happening around this neighborhood,” said Carla Oliver-Harris. “I’m worried about the kids.”

Oliver-Harris was at the gas station where the bus pulled in for help just before 4 p.m. She told Local 24 MPD and emergency personnel were quick to respond to the injured student.

“They were right there,” she said. “They were all over here. I heard the ambulance, police, everything. I’ve very glad they were here.”

According to Memphis Police the driver stopped the bus at a gas station near Mill Branch and Raines. The student was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
