Bus Driver Drops Students At Wrong Location After School

Local News

Several children were dropped off by substitute bus driver at random stop along their route Monday.

A person saw the children standing around and took them to Tillman Station.

The bus driver, and the bus with other children still on it, were later located at Overton Crossing and Mt. Terrace.

The driver has been detained. It is unknown at this point why the children were dropped off at the wrong location.

Statement from Shelby County Schools:

Several students from Treadwell Middle were dropped off before their assigned bus stops this afternoon. All students are safe; however, the matter remains under investigation. Student safety is our top priority, and we will always take appropriate action when bus safety procedures are not followed. The driver of this route will be removed while the matter is investigated further.

Statement from Durham Bus Services:

We take these matters seriously and worked with authorities to investigate. It was found that the driver stayed with the bus and followed proper protocol in contacting the dispatch office regarding the stop. The students exited the bus on their own accord. The driver is a substitute, and is no longer on this route.
