The Collective’s “Corner Store” highlights unique Memphis art & fashion

Local News

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Some Mid-South students got a chance to shop for a new wardrobe ahead of the 2019-2020 school year.

“The Collective” hosted the Corner Store event Sunday in Orange Mound. The local business transformed their store front to feature some of the most unique Memphis fashion around.

The event placed special emphasis on collector’s items from African-American artists to bring unique Memphis flair into our daily environment.

“There were a group of kids that came here earlier, three little girls and one of the girls was seeing what was happening within the space all the art and all of the products were made by people that look like her. And out of nowhere she said, ‘Oh I think I want to be a baker,’ so the possibility is what I would like them to take away,” said member of the Collective Felicia Wheeler.

10 new shirt designs were unveiled at this weekend’s event. Free backpacks were also given away.
