(CITY OF MEMPHIS NEWS RELEASE) – UPDATE 11/12/2019 – From City of Memphis: “The warming center located at 1188 North Parkway (Lewis Senior center) will remain open overnight and will close Wednesday morning, November 13 at 8:00 a.m. 25 Guests visited the center Monday night.”
11/11/2019 – The City of Memphis has implemented its cold weather plan with the establishment of a Warming Center.
Warming Centers are places where residents dealing with extended times of low temperatures, below 20° F, may escape the extreme conditions. Primary locations for warming centers are usually malls, shopping centers, libraries, and community centers that are opened during normal business hours.
The Warming Center will open Monday, November 11, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. and will operate continuously, twenty-four (24) hours a day until further notice.
