MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- City officials hosted a ribbon cutting for the new pavilion at Lincoln Park on Saturday.
The park is located near Hamilton High School in South Memphis.
The new pavilion replaces an older one that was significantly damaged by a tree, in a storm 2 years ago.
“We’ve redone the baseball field, we’ve added spectator benches for them to watch the games and not sit on the ground and lean against the fence,” said City Councilwoman Jamita Swearengen. “We’ve had the basketball goals repainted, brand new nets on them. We’re revitalizing the neighborhood.”
The city has spent $511,000 to construct two pavilions: the completed one at Lincoln Park and one that is currently being built at Douglass Park in North Memphis.
The event also featured music and free food.
