Man charged after police say woman was taken at gunpoint from hotel room

UPDATE 6/21/2019 – Memphis Police have arrested Jimmie Jones in connection with the case.

According to court records, Jones faces several charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping & burglary, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Bond has not been set, and he remains behind bars.

UPDATE 6/20/2019 – Memphis Police tell Local 24 News the city watch alert for the missing woman has been canceled, and she has been located. Further details were not released.


MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( – Memphis Police have issued a City Watch Alert for a missing woman they say was taken at gunpoint from a northeast Memphis hotel room.

It happened about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Red Roof Inn on Shelby Oaks Drive.

Police say a man crashed through the window of 30-year-old Daley Long’s room, fired three shots, then took her at gunpoint from the room. They say the suspect then forced her into his car, possibly a silver Toyota Accent, and took off.

Long is described as 5’6” tall and 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a tank tops and shorts in unknown colors.

The suspect is described as a 40 to 45-year-old black male, medium height & build, wearing a dark shirt and camo shorts.
