Employees at The Cobra had the opportunity to pay their respects, as the doors to the East Nashville bar didn’t open until 6 p.m.

Outside the bar, the community has rallied behind the establishment, honoring the victims.

Flowers, birthday balloons and birthday candles are among the items placed outside the door in honor of Teal who was celebrating his 33rd birthday when he and 30-year-old Jaime Sarrantonio who were both killed Friday morning.

One of the co-owners of The Cobra told News 2 the senseless murders have driven him to make sure we “remember to love each other and be safe in our community.”

Nikolaos Gehrke started the memorial with a few candles Friday night and posted a message on Facebook.

“Just want to let everybody know that we appreciate the love and we are going to make sure that these two did not die in vain. We are all going to love each other, we are going to make Nashville a better place and just remember, hug your friend, hug your neighbor, right now where you are sitting, hug the guy next to you because you may not see them again,” Gehrke proclaimed.

The bar was closed Saturday night to the public as they hosted friends and family for Sarrantonio and Teal.

The Cobra will open at 6 p.m. Tuesday so staff can attend services for Teal, as well as a Celebration of Life for Sarrantonio. Her celebration will be held at 4 p.m. at Sinema.

On Monday, police arrested two men wanted for questioning in the pair’s shooting death. No charges have been filed in the case.
