(SHELBY COUNTY D.A. NEWS RELEASE) - A Cordova man was convicted Thursday of raping a 7-year-old girl five years ago when he was 18, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Christian Blackwell, now 24, faces at least 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced next month by Criminal Court Judge W. Mark Ward.
The incident occurred between Dec. 1, 2012, and Jan. 31, 2013, when Blackwell blindfolded the girl in a bathroom and forced her to perform oral sex.
The case was handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Lessie Rainey of the DA’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.
