Couple forced to leave after altercation at local restaurant

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( A disturbing video of a couple being called a racial slur at a Memphis Steakhouse is causing an uproar on social media.

Deshun and Renee Fletcher were enjoying their anniversary at Ruth’s Chris when they claim a man yelled the N-word at them.

In a video posted on Facebook the staff at Ruth’s Chris is asking the couple to leave at the end of the altercation.

The couple says they are emotionally exhausted after what went down.

Their lawyer says he’s still looking into details but they aren’t going to let this go.

“We’re really trying to figure out what happened and the sequence of things and one is obvious that my client is clearly worked up about this, clearly in distress and his wife is in a similar situation,” said Attorney Andre Wharton.

Fletcher told Local 24 News, “I don’t want anyone to ever go through this, that’s why I’m speaking out about it. It’s sad, it’s 2019. We shouldn’t be going through this.”

Ruth’s Chris sent Local 24 News this statement:

“We do not condone hate speech or intolerance. Our goal is to deliver a dining experience that is inclusive and welcoming. And while this was an altercation between guests, we are taking this situation very seriously and investigating.”
