An up and coming sport in the Mid-South is trying to gain more exposure after finding out they may be losing one of their more popular courses.
Disc golf is similar to regular golf, but uses different types of frisbees instead of clubs and golf balls.
The Memphis Area Disc Golf Club, also known as MADGolf, is hosting a tournament Saturday at the Mid-South Fairgrounds.
But the city of Memphis would like to turn the area into a youth sports complex, effectively shutting down one of the few disc golf courses in the area.
“As of right now, there are no plans for relocation. I would just love for [the course] to be in the multi-million dollar budget for the complex,” says Benjamin Taylor, president of the Memphis Area Disc Golf Club. “There’s a huge community in the area, just not much of a voice or visibility.”
