MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Thursday was the deadline for people to qualify to run for elected office in the Memphis city election.
Everything from the mayor’s office to city council seats are up for grabs, and now the election commission must determine who qualified to be on the ballot.
So far 66 candidates submitted applications with the required 25 valid signatures for 18 offices. Every city council seat is on the ballot, and three are term-limited. It appears the district seven seat is the most contested with 9 people now running. The mayor’s race is also a crowded field with at least eleven candidates.
Folks still have time to change their minds. July 25th is the deadline to withdraw their petitions.
