Driver arrested after motorcycle crash involving off-duty MPD officer


MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( A man has been arrested after a motorcycle crash injured an off-duty Memphis police officer on Friday.

According to an affidavit, 34-year-old Travis Hodges was traveling west on Summer Avenue when he crashed into the officer riding his motorcycle.

The officer was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He received treatment for a broken leg and head injuries.

Investigators say Hodges was an unlicensed driver with no proof of insurance. Officers also found that Hodges had several empty beer bottles on the floor board of his vehicle.

Investigators believe that Hodges may have been driving while impaired at the time of the accident.

The affidavit states that Hodges agreed to draw blood, investigators are awaiting those results.

Hodges has been charged with aggravated assault, driving with no license, violation of financial law,and failure to exercise to due care.
