Election Commission Warns About Voter Intimidation

Local News

The election commission is issuing a warning about aggressive campaigning and intimidating early voters in Shelby County.

Election workers are warning voters who are being bombarded by candidates or their reps at the polls to report the situation immediately.

“There is a no man’s land beyond which workers cannot cross,” said Shelby County Elections Administrator Linda Phillips. “If candidates and their workers cross that line, I’d like voters to report that to the office of elections, at the voting place, and then the sheriff will enforce the law.”

Early voting ends at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. While you have a number of precincts to choose from to cast an early vote, you won’t have that option on election day.

Tuesday voters will have to cast ballots at their designated precinct.
