MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Facebook launched its latest campaign, in May, “More Together“ featuring people reminiscing about Memphis.
In the ad, the iconic song “Walking in Memphis“ is sang by people from all over the country while they think about Memphis being a special place. Facebook brought Miley Cyrus and Marc Cohn together for a performance of Walking in Memphis“ at this year’s Memphis in May.
The ad ran on Local 24 News, Sunday night, during the NBA finals.
“I Love Memphis in May“ is the Facebook group bringing people from different backgrounds together across the country.
A Facebook spokesperson told Local 24 News that Memphis has an authentic way of bringing people together through music and food, which made it an inspiration for the campaign.
“The campaign really showcases people from all walks of life connecting through groups through their passions,“ Facebook spokesperson Lisa Stratton said. “Whether it’s pets, parenting, or food, or music like here in Memphis at the Beale Street Music festival.“
Local 24 News political analyst, Otis Sanford, said the ad did a great job showing the unique diversity of Memphis and puts the city in a positive light.
“Memphis has a soulful pride about it that I think that that ad captured very well in a lot of diverse settings,“ Sanford said.
Kevin Kane from the Memphis Tourism and Visitors Bureau said the Facebook has been “overwhelmingly positive.“
