MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Tuesday morning, loved ones of Lamorris Robinson, shot and killed in Memphis last week, were joined by Memphis attorney Howard Manis.
The mother of Robinson’s two young children didn’t speak to the media but fought tears as Manis suggested a civil lawsuit would likely be filed as he closely monitors the criminal proceedings in the case.
Last week, authorities said Charles Kalb of Memphis shot and killed Robinson in the back as Robinson reportedly stole a chainsaw from Mid-South Small Engines.
Police said Robinson, unarmed, was running from the scene when Kalb pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and fired several times, hitting Robinson in the back.
Kalb was arrested, charged with first-degree murder, and later released on a $1 million bond after appearing in court last week.
Manis said Robinson had spent time in prison and was recently released and that a person has no right to kill when there is no physical threat present.
We’ve reached out Kalb’s attorney and expect a response sometime Tuesday afternoon after that attorney finishes his commitments in court.
