Family of missing Cordova woman hoping for closure

CORDOVA, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Taquila Hayes’ family is hoping to find clues to what may have happened to her. Monday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation searched the home where Hayes lives with her husband and son.

Roberta Nutall, Hayes’ mother, gave an emotional plea for answers to where her daughter could be. She said she is losing hope that her daughter could be alive.

“My daughter is not missing,” Nutall said. “My daughter is dead somewhere.”

Nutall reported her daughter missing August 9 after she had not been seen in over two months.

Hayes’ family is suspicious that her husband might have harmed her and is involved in her disappearance. The TBI took Hayes’ car and few belongings from the home into evidence.

“Tell the truth,” Nutall said. “Get it off your conscience for her son’s sake. For my grandson’s sake. For his son’s sake.”

Takera Henderson is Hayes’ niece and she said she hopes no evidence that could lead to answers was destroyed during the time she was missing.

“He could have done a lot of things, so hopefully the people doing the search they got something or anything,” Henderson said.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Hayes’ husband spoke with investigators. However, there are no named suspects in this case yet.

“My auntie wouldn’t want us suffering like this,” Henderson said. “It’s been all over the news everywhere. My aunt would have reached out so with that being said my hope is gone.”

Nutall said she hopes she can at least find her daughter and bring whoever possibly hurt her to justice.

“If his last act would be to just give me back my daughter so I can give her a proper burial that’s all I want,” Nutall said.
