Grizzlies fans came to FedExForum Thursday night for a super-sized NBA draft party, and now they are buzzing about the newest Grizzlies players.
Once Ja Morant was named the newest member of the Memphis Grizzlies, fans inside FedExForum screamed to the top of their lungs, unable to control their excitement.
It’s a new era when it comes to Memphis basketball, and everyone is talking about it.
“It’s a buzz. It seems like everybody is ready for a new day. It’s time for change and I think the whole city is adapting to it,” said Antonio Braxton, Sr., a huge Memphis Grizzlies Fan.
Grizz fans got exactly who they wanted with the 2nd pick of the 1st round in the NBA draft.
“Now that we have Morant, you know, we already got Jaren Jackson Jr. I mean it’s just like the combo with Mike Conley and Z-Bo just revamped in a new form,” said Enos Jackson, a Memphis Grizzlies Fan.
Fans say it’s a rebuilding year. Especially with Wednesday’s announcement of the Mike Conley trade.
“I’m going to miss Mike, I love Mike just like I love Marc but it’s time for a new era now,” said Fay Eubanks.
A fresh start for a young team and with this newest teammate and a new coach, many fans say the team can only improve.
“Owners got some new management in place and they can get the right people in there and make it work,” said Don Williams, Grizzlies Season Ticket holders.
And season ticket holders say it’s an exciting time to be a Memphis basketball fan.
“The Tigers class coming in and the new Grizzlies coming in, it be the first time both teams had this much enthusiasm at the same time, and I’m looking forward to Memphis basketball this year,” said Lambert Chatman, Memphis Grizzlies season ticket holder.
