WASHINGTON, D.C. (localmemphis.com) - Founder, Chairman, and President of FedEx Fred Smith will serve as one of the 15 pallbearers for Sen. John McCain during a national memorial service Saturday at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington D.C.

Thousands of people have been paying their respects in Arizona, filing past the flag-draped casket at the Arizona Capitol. A private service was held Wednesday, which began two days of official mourning in Arizona before McCain’s body is taken to Washington for a viewing at the U.S. Capitol. The former Vietnam prisoner of war will be laid to rest at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Others serving as pallbearers for the Washington ceremony include former Vice President Joe Biden, actor Warren Beatty, and businessman and former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Among those scheduled to speak are former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, Senators Kelly Ayotte, Lindsey Graham, and Joseph Lieberman, Dr. Henry A. Kissinger, and son and daughters Jimmy, Sidney, and Meghan McCain.

The service is set to begin about 9:00 a.m. Central time Saturday.
