MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen made multiple stops across the Mid-south Saturday.
Bredesen has been locked in a tight race with republican U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn to fill Bob Corker's U.S. Senate seat.
According to a recent poll, Bredesen holds a slim 2-point advantage over Blackburn. He views Memphis as key to holding that lead.
As the former governor hosted 4 events in the Bluff City Saturday he said he feels good about his campaign after seeing strong turnout.
"What's really encouraging is when you see people who you know you've known a long time you know are probably going to be here, but there's all these new people. It's an amazing number of people just kind of stepping forward and this and I think that's the type of thing that's going to push it over the top for me,” said Bredesen.
Blackburn was invited to a debate with Bredesen at Rhodes College on Thursday, but she declined.
The two will debate near Nashville on the 25th instead.
