State Representative Robert Foster, a first-term Republican, announced 

Tuesday night he is running to become the next governor Of Mississippi

“There is a lot of people around the state that I truly believe are looking for a different chose next year for Governor, ” said Foster

He also runs the family farm and agritourism business, Cedar Hill Farms, which is south of Hernando.

Gov. Phil Bryant cannot run again because of term limits.

Republican Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves is expected to run for governor. 

Another republican Petal Mayor Hal Marx has announced he will run.

On the Democrats’ side already in the race are Attorney General Jim hood and retired Jackson State University employee Velesha Williams.
