Germantown Grad/UT Vols Football Player Goes Viral With Act Of Kindness For Homeless Man

Local News

A Germantown High graduate who now plays football for the University of Tennessee Knoxville is getting major props for a simple act of kindness.

Video tweeted out by Garret Johnson (@John14Almighty) shows him bringing shoes to a homeless man, after the man told him he couldn’t walk because his feet hurt from the torn shoes he had.

“I walked to the strip to get food and a homeless man (Lala) couldn’t walk because his feet were hurting from the torn shoes he had on. I told him I would come back and 15 mins later I did. Don’t know those people but I do care. Love. #GBO” tweeted Johnson.

Johnson offered a second pair of shoes to another man sitting there. He declined, so Johnson gave the second pair to the first man.

Johnson was willing to do a Facetime interview with Local 24 but UT football officials wouldn’t let him.
