MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Germantown’s new school hosted their first open house on Saturday.
Forest Hill Elementary opened their doors and started classes for 550 students this past week.
The elementary school is Germantown’s first new school in 30 years.
Local 24 News spoke with people, who say its a big advantage for kids to take classes in a state of the art facility.
“So we like to say that this space is for the community but it was also designed by the community by the very people that are going to be using it,” said Kate Crowder, Communications Coordinator with Germantown Municipal School. “So we brought in a large number of focus groups we did surveys they asked us for specific features and we were able to include them in the design of this building so its very special.”
Each floor has a multipurpose activity rooms for the teachers to reserve.
The rooms can be used for wet labs, art activities or other interactive projects.
