The Aspire School district is investigating claims that a teacher is limiting the number of times a student can leave class for things like bathroom or nurse visits.
A mother of a student at Aspire Hanley Middle School posted a photo of the hall pass to social media. It shows a student must agree to leave class only twice a month.
After the second time, the pass says the student will not be allowed to leave for any reason, including going to the nurse or bathroom.
We reached out to the school. They sent the following statement from Superintendent Dr. Nickalous Manning:
“Today we were notified that one of our teachers at Aspire Hanley Middle School allegedly issued an agreement between students and the teacher around permission for restricted bathroom, water and nurse visit privileges. Our staff is currently investigating the claim at this time. We want our scholars and parents to know that our focus will always be on the wellbeing of our scholars and we take every allegation seriously.”
