Investigation underway after fire at local vacant church

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – A fire early Thursday morning at a local vacant church is under investigation.

Memphis Fire officials say the fire happened about 2:30 a.m. at the vacant First Korean Presbyterian Church in the 400 block of N. Perkins Road. It took just under 30 minutes to get it under control. No one was injured.

Investigators say the building did not have a sprinkler system.

Damage is estimated at about $105,000. Investigators say the cause of the fire is inconclusive. They ask anyone with information to call the State Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017 or Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
