Investigators searching for arsonist after vacant apartments set on fire in midtown Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. ( – Investigators are searching for whoever set fire to a vacant midtown apartment overnight.

Memphis Fire officials say it happened about 12:14 a.m. Friday at 25 N. Watkins St. Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of the building. It took them about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. No one was hurt.

Total damage is estimated at about $33,000.

Investigators say the fire was intentionally set inside the apartment building. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH (2274) or the State Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017.
