Local 24 Cares is once again the proud media sponsor of this year’s “American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K” walk.
Thousands of local breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate and community leaders are expected to take part in this year’s walk, which will be held rain or shine this Sunday, October 21st, starting at 3:00 p.m. AutoZone Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Midtown Memphis.
Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.
The walk is a noncompetitive, inspirational event to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 260,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 41,000 will die from the disease this year.
“It continues to grow the awareness around the research we’re doing right here in Memphis, and helps generate funds for all the programs and services that the American Cancer Society offers to help continue our life saving work for breast cancer research,” says Elizabeth Ennis with the American Cancer Society.
Last year, more than 5,000 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer participants raised more than $600,000 for the American Cancer Society.
