MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Jury selection is underway in the trial for the grocery store clerk accused of killing a suspected teen shoplifter.
Anwar Ghazali has been indicted with first-degree murder for the shooting death of Dorian Harris last year in north Memphis. The 17-year-old Harris reportedly tried to steal a beer from the Top Stop Shop.
Ghazali reportedly chased Harris before shooting him, but nothing about the theft or shooting was reported to police.
Harris’ body was not found for two days and sparked weeks of protests by members of Black Lives Matter.
