Local 24 is poised to become a leader in the market, able to bring you up-to-the minute news from across the country, with the latest move by our parent company. “Nexstar Broadcasting Group” completed the acquisition Tuesday of “Media General”. The new name of the company is “Nexstar Media Group”.
The move makes the company the nation’s second largest television broadcaster. With 171 full power television stations in 100 markets, and a diverse and growing digital operation, Nexstar Media Group is one of the nation’s leading creators of local news, entertainment, sports, lifestyle and network programming.
Perry Sook, Chairman, President and CEO of Nexstar, commented, “Our acquisition of Media General marks a significant milestone in Nexstar’s 20 year history of growth, which has been predicated on our unwavering commitment to deliver exceptional service to the local communities where we operate and value to our shareholders.”
Local 24 will continue to bring you local news, sports and weather, focused on the Mid-South.
With the acquisition, we will now have direct access to content across the entire state of Tennessee, and to the capitals of Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
