Local 24 Cares Steps Up for Down Syndrome

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Walkers hit the pavement of Christian Brothers University for the 4th Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome.

Sunday, teams gathered to participate in a walk, fellowship, and watch groups like Company D Dance.

Local Memphis Live host, Amy Speropoulos emceed the event, which was sponsored by Local 24 Cares.
Local 24 News spoke with one family who looks forward to participating every year.

“We love to come out and make sure our daughter gets all the help and support she needs and it’s best time of the year to bring awareness to Down Syndrome,” said Devonda Ferrell, whose daughter has Down Syndrome.

The Mayor of Bartlett, Keith McDonald, was also there and declared the month of October as Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
