MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Local 24 Cares has teamed up with the American Red Cross to help storm victims. The Red Cross has deployed 2,400 volunteers to parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
More than 20,000 people were helped at 200 Red Cross and community shelters overnight Sunday. Volunteers have served more than 129,000 meals across eight states.
About 2,330 Red Cross disaster workers from all over the country have been mobilized to help shelter, feed, and support people affected by Florence. But they can't do it without your help.
"With financial resources, we can go and purchase exactly what people need and we do so in the communities that's been affected when we can and that also helps them have an economic recovery,” says Bob Wallace, Public Affairs Volunteer with the American Red Cross of the Mid-South.
All money raised as part of this donation drive will go directly to support Hurricane Florence disaster relief.
