MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) - Thanks to everyone who helped those in need by donating to the Local 24 Cares Thanksgiving food drive benefiting Mid-South Food Bank. The food drive was held Thursday, November 8th at the Sam's Club on Highway 64 in Bartlett.
You helped Local 24 Cares raise $10,223 and 3,600 lbs. of food, which equals 33,669 meals for those in need.
20% of Mid-Southerners – 400,000 people – struggle with food insecurity and hunger. They are not sure where their next meal is coming from. At the holiday season, food insecurity is especially tragic for children, families and seniors.
Every year, Mid-South Food Bank provides thousands of turkeys and all the fixings for holiday meals for those who struggle to put food on the table. The turkeys, stuffing and vegetables they provide are donated by caring individuals, groups and companies who want to help give someone a happy Thanksgiving with a nutritious family meal. You can donate frozen turkeys, the star of the meal, and canned vegetables of all kinds, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
But remember, your cash donation goes even farther! A $15 gift provides a complete turkey for one family, and $25 provides the whole meal. You can make a secure online donation HERE; just choose "Local Cares Thanksgiving" from the drop-down box.
Your gifts of frozen turkeys, other food items and your cash donations make Mid-South Food Bank's work possible!
