Record-breaking. History-making. A Center Hill High School student is making his mark in the swim world, shattering several Mississippi records, and he’s only a sophomore.
At 6’4, Taylor Williams is lean and mean. Williams spends hours in the pool and the weight room every day.
Starting before sunrise, the teen is going the distance, literally, 30 miles each week, breaking records and making history.
So far, he broke the state breaststroke record, swimming 4 laps in under 57 seconds.
“Just the technique, you have to go up and back down and glide through the water. You have to do big kicks. You can get real tired with the stroke,” said Williams.
Williams also broke the 200-individual medley, and over three years he broke 17 other records in the Southeasterns, a swim competition.
“You just got to push through, and your dreams can come true,” said Williams. “If you work hard for it.”
