MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Mid-South Families gathered to celebrate all things Israel on Sunday.
The 12th Annual Memphis Israel Festival was hosted at the Shelby Farms Agricenter on Walnut Grove Road.
Dozens of Israel themed vendors were there for visitors to purchase products directly imported from Israel.
Organizers say the festival also educates people about the Jewish and Christian heritage.
“It’s important because we need to strengthen our ties between two great democracies,” said Jason Caplan, Music Director of Memphis Friends of Israel. “Our heritage in particularly the Jewish tradition is a safe haven, a place of security and it’s a beacon of hope for many many faiths.”
During the festival, the Jewish and Christian communities presented Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland with a plaque for being a strong supporter.
