Lausanne Collegiate School running back Eric Gray received a standing ovation during Friday night’s football game against Goodpasture Christian School. The football player took home the title of scoring the most touchdowns in his high school career. He shattered the record previously held by Troy Flemming, who set the record back in the 1990’s.
Gray went into Friday night’s game with 131 career touchdowns.
“For me, I’m just focused on the game,” he said prior to taking to the field.
Head Lynx coach, Kevin Locastro, said the star athlete is deserving of his new title.
“He’s got incredible work ethic,” said Locastro. “From day one on campus as a ninth grader he was the guy that you knew came to practice ready to get after it. That’s infectious for our team.”
Gray told Local 24 News he wasn’t even aware of the touchdown record until someone told him about it during a previous football game.
“Everybody kept saying, ‘go break the record tonight.’ I was like, ‘what are you all talking?’ I didn’t know about the touchdown record.”
Gray will continue his football career past graduation. He has verbally committed to the University of Michigan.
