MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com)- Hundreds of local kids were rewarded with a free bicycle for their perfect attendance during 2018-2019 school year.
Students came together for the 6th annual bike presentation on Tiger Lane Saturday.
The program is part of Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirch’s “Every Day in School” program, which targets 30 schools with a high level of truancy.
Matthias Green, a 7th grader with Hickory Riddle told Local 24 News, “Collecting my reward for perfect attendance all year.”
Sponsor and District Attorney Amy Weirch said, “To reward those kids and parents and grandparents who have worked hard this year who are making the right choices and doing the right thing.”
After students got their new bikes, volunteers were on hand to help show them how to ride a bike and take care of it.
